Observing the battle between a cat and a snake reveals the grand principles of military strategy. Military tactics are not rigid doctrines; their essence lies in adapting to circumstances. By watching the confrontation and struggle between a cat and a cobra, and then reflecting on the profound teachings of *The Art of War*, One realizes that the art of maneuvering in all worldly affairs has long been embedded in the instincts of natural creatures. Military strategy has never been a set of dogmatic rules to be mechanically followed; rather, it is a profound wisdom that involves reading the situation and adapting measures to local conditions. The cobra carries potent venom, capable of delivering a fatal strike in a single blow. When it goes on the attack, it rears up, expands its hood, and exudes an intimidating aura, every muscle tensed and poised, its strikes swift as lightning. It appears to hold absolute dominance and deterrence, yet such a flamboyant posture comes at a great cost of internal energy. The constant tension of its body, the frequent sudden attacks, the hurried dodges and evasions, At every moment drain its physical strength and stamina; its advances and retreats betray impatience and passivity, much like a side that exhausts its military might in a desperate rush for victory, possessing only fierce offensive power, But lacking the ability to sustain a prolonged campaign. In contrast, the domestic cat in the confrontation paces leisurely, its demeanor calm, always maintaining a safe distance from the venomous snake, never rashly closing in for a fight. It does not act on momentary bloodlust, fully embodying the supreme principle of *The Art of War*: first make yourself invincible, then wait for the enemy to become vulnerable. It first stabilizes itself, sealing off all openings, So that no matter how many attacks the opponent launches, none can harm it, firmly placing itself in an invincible position. Using stillness to control movement, reposing while awaiting the exhausted, it lets the venomous snake strut and threaten as it pleases, While remaining completely composed, conserving its energy and observing calmly, firmly holding the initiative on the battlefield. When the venomous snake has exhausted itself over time and its sharpness wanes, the cat seizes the fleeting moment of opportunity, Strikes with its claws in a thunderous blow. After swiftly hitting the vital point, it immediately withdraws, never lingering or taking risks. If the snake shows signs of retreat and attempts to flee, the cat follows and harries it, applying pressure step by step. When the snake turns to counterattack, the cat quickly distances itself, employing the tactic of guerrilla warfare, leaving the opponent unable to attack, defend, or escape, dragging the once-dominant enemy into defeat. This posture of calm patience and seizing the opportunity is the true portrayal of the saying: "The skilled warrior has no great fame; he wins over enemies who are already easy to defeat." The struggle of these small creatures is already a complete practical demonstration of military strategy. Looking at the current global geopolitical game, this principle runs through the entire situation. As *The Art of War* says: "Military tactics are like water; there are no fixed forms." The subtlety of application lies in the mind. Modern international conflicts have never had a fixed pattern to follow. For example, in the confrontation between the United States and Iran, the U.S. possesses advanced naval and air forces, aircraft carriers, fighter jets, satellites, and drones, with global deployment. Its offensive is swift and fierce, fitting the description: "One skilled in attack moves as if from the highest heavens," using absolute strength to launch a powerful crackdown. But a massive combat system means astronomical resource consumption. Prolonged warfare incurs huge losses, much like the tightly coiled cobra—only suitable for a quick fight, not a long endurance. In contrast, Iran relies on its home terrain, digging deep underground fortifications and dispersing defensive nodes, Breaking up its forces and hiding its defenses. This is "one skilled in defense hides in the deepest earth," using local home-field advantage to wait at ease for the exhausted enemy, avoiding frontal clashes and consuming the enemy's strength through prolonged attrition. At the same time, it leverages energy, shipping, and other geopolitical means to counterbalance, closely following the five core elements of *The Art of War*: measure, capacity, number, balance, and victory, weighing the overall strengths and weaknesses through resources and terrain. In the game of power, one can see the deeper meaning of military strategy. When a major power crushes a weaker opponent, people often think it is due to superior combat strength, but as the book says, "Lifting an autumn hair is not a sign of great strength; seeing the sun and moon is not a sign of sharp eyesight; hearing thunder is not a sign of acute hearing." Winning through absolute size is not top-tier strategy. The essence of such warfare has long transcended the simple contest of victory or defeat. Rather, it uses swift victory to establish authority, deter all around, and solidify one's own strategic position—a deep layout where military means serve the overall grand strategy. From ancient battlefields to natural struggles, To modern geopolitical confrontations, *The Art of War*, passed down for millennia, has never been a textbook to be copied mechanically, but a foundational mindset for understanding human nature, weighing pros and cons, and controlling the situation. Those truly skilled in strategy never adhere rigidly to set patterns; they grasp the core principles, adapt to the times, formulate plans according to circumstances, first secure themselves, then plan for the whole. Meeting all kinds of changes with a calm mind—this is the true essence of military strategy that has endured through the ages without fading.
