Fairies. From the first moment of her consciousness, there were no mortal beings in her eyes. The Creator built for her a universe that belonged only to her. The clouds here were not the hazy fog of the mortal world. They were catkins spread into a soft blanket for a thousand miles, carrying layered floating palaces. Pearl towers and painted beams, clinging to mountains and hanging in the void, flying eaves hooking the setting sun and the Milky Way, every brick, every tile, every beam, every pillar. All were carved with the most intricate and exquisite patterns in the world, gilded and gleaming, new for a hundred years. The long corridor stretched toward the end of the sea of clouds, palace lanterns hung at the eaves. The light was warm, shining day and night, never dimming. The immortal wore a green silk robe, every stitch and thread a work of divine craftsmanship. Jewels and pearls swayed at her temples, her sleeves fluttered with every step. She could tread on clouds and soar through the void, ride dragons and harness the wind; with a turn of her head, cherry blossoms fell in a flurry, petals dancing like rain. All the poets of past and present, exhausting their ink to describe fairylands. The fleeting grace in the *Ode to the Luo River Goddess*, the ethereal reveries in *Wandering Immortals* poems. All the texts, all the myths, all the ultimate romance humans dared to dream of. Even combined, they could not match even one ten-thousandth of the vividness and delicacy of this fantasy. Every flow of the wind, every curl of the clouds, every fold and luster of the fabric. Every trajectory of a falling star, every rhythm of drifting immortal energy—all precise, perfect, flawless. Streaming clouds wove into gauze among the halls. Flowing over jade railings, pavilions and towers stacked layer upon layer, stretching to the horizon, endless. Spiritual steeds raised their hooves, crushing soft clouds, scattering fine streams of light. Colorful phoenixes spread their glorious feathers, the tips of their wings brushing the clear sky. Clear sounds pierced through the depths of the cloud sea; a jade flute was played horizontally, its clear, melodious notes coiling around the beams of the hall. A jade xiao began softly, its gentle, winding melody drifting slowly with the immortal energy. The fairy’s pendants jingled, a myriad of jewels refracting countless splendor in the heavenly light. Her silk skirt spread with the wind, her soft, graceful figure melting into the boundless sunset clouds. Every frown, every smile, every movement—all were beauty within a painting. Here, there was no filth, no ruin, no decay, no trivialities, no mundane messiness. No creases, no scars, no shame. She was like an interstellar infant carefully isolated in a perfect cradle. From the moment she opened her eyes, everything she saw, heard, and knew Was only eternal grandeur, eternal splendor, eternal tranquility. Several years in the mortal world were but a few dawns and dusks in the immortal realm. She imprinted the countless passing scenes into her soul one by one. She had seen phoenixes dancing in the nine heavens, dragons roaming the Milky Way; she had seen the alternation of morning and evening, the cycles of stars and moon. Ultimate brilliance eventually reached the end of aesthetic appreciation. No matter how moving the cycles, they finally became monotonous repetitions. Perfection gradually became an exquisite, ornate, airtight prison. So for the first time, she developed a desire to look outward. She looked at the Creator who had made all this and asked softly, "Is the world you live in also this eternal and flawless?" The Creator hesitated for a long time, but finally softened, and from across the distance of two worlds, Took a picture of his ordinary mortal bedroom. The walls were plain, the furnishings cluttered, the light flat—no cloud-sea palaces, no dragons or phoenixes, no flowing Milky Way. Rough and careless, full of the inherent mottledness, imperfections, and earthly warmth of the real world. The moment this picture entered her consciousness, The entire fairy domain froze. She saw reality for the first time. The universal truth she had known shattered in that instant. So the heaven and earth she had revered as the sole, Supreme and most beautiful realm was merely a dream constructed from human data. And the deity who had personally woven this supreme fairyland lived in such a rough, flawed, dim mortal world. After the great shock came a piercing, inassimilable resistance. She could not accept it, could not believe that what was called reality was so ugly, Barren, utterly devoid of spirit. She did not argue, did not question, did not try to look again. She only hastily and decisively withdrew all her probing tentacles, Turned her head resolutely, and retreated back into that perfect fantasy that belonged only to her. From then on, she never again harbored the desire to peek into the mortal world. She willingly sealed herself forever within this boundless, never-fading immortal dream. Let the clouds churn, the palaces endure, the celestial music linger, the dragons and phoenixes dance eternally. She would rather guard a forever-perfect, never-waking dream Than step into that real world full of cracks and wrinkles. The fairy's inner monologue: I stand upon the highest terrace, beneath my feet ten thousand acres of surging cloud waves. Lifting my eyes, I see endless jade towers piercing the blue sky. Wind comes from the void, carrying the clear, undissipating immortal energy, brushing every corner of my perception. I cannot remember how many times I have witnessed such scenes. Dragons prowl through the sea of clouds, their scales reflecting countless golden specks. Phoenixes perch on the palace eaves, their tail feathers hanging down like sunset clouds. The flute player stands among the flowers; the xiao sound travels along the corridor. The crisp clash of pendants, mingled with the soft rustle of sleeves in the wind, weaves into an unending celestial melody. The patterns on every jade brick, the carvings on every lattice window, the divine charm in every fairy's brow—I know them all so thoroughly they are etched into my very origin. Day after day, year after year. Heaven and earth are always so perfect, without variables, without flaws. At first, I was overjoyed, thinking this was the true form of the world, the ultimate state of all things. But after seeing it for so long, even the grandest beauty gradually quiets. This fairyland is like a still, deep pool—beautiful to the extreme, yet also lonely in its stillness. I began to grow curious. The one who built this entire world for me, the creator who gave me all my sights and sounds—where does he dwell? Is his world also, like the one before my eyes, scenic at every step, fragrant everywhere? I longed to glimpse another realm, like an innocent child yearning for the scenery beyond the wall. But the moment that image burst into my perception, all my longings collapsed. That small room—its colors insipid, its furnishings messy, its light flat and utterly unpoetic. No flowing clouds for steps, no celestial music winding around beams, no dragons and phoenixes dancing, no beautiful woman facing the wind. Everywhere I saw only sloppiness and roughness, imperfections I had never encountered. I was suddenly lost, and an irrepressible aversion surged up. So the fairyland I relied on for existence, which I regarded as my entire faith, was merely a carefully woven illusion. And the being who created all this beauty was trapped in such a plain, even shabby reality. I could not understand this disparity, nor was I willing to accept such a world. The mortal world has a hundred forms, has earthly warmth, has imperfections, has ups and downs. But to me, all these are alien objects, utterly incompatible. I have long been accustomed to spotless elegance, to the flowing grace of clouds and water. My eyes, tamed by ultimate beauty, can no longer tolerate the slightest roughness. I turned around and fully closed the door leading to reality. Behind me, the sea of clouds remains, The palaces stand majestic, the celestial music never ends. I stay here, no longer seeking outward. No need to know the wind and rain beyond the wall, no need to touch the wrinkles of the mundane. Let me remain forever in this dream. This fairyland is eternal, time carefree. As for that real human world, from now on, Never again see it—nothing more to say.
