Don't be misled by the dazzling visuals of AI—let's talk about the truths the tech circle doesn't want to admit openly. Recently, C-Station 2.0 went viral with its cinematic, epic visual effects. Sci-fi castles, grand scenes, and incredibly detailed textures have led many to exclaim that the AI era has truly arrived and the film industry is about to be disrupted. Amid all the praise and excitement, let's calm down, set aside the flashy images, and start from the most basic principles to discuss the real logic of AI visual generation, its capability boundaries, and the practical issues hidden behind those stunning effects. No belittling, no hype—just a clear-sighted科普 (popular science explanation). First, all AI generation boils down to only two paths. Whether it's images, videos, or AI creations claiming to surpass movies, the underlying logic is just two—no third path. Path one: with a dictionary, tied to text, look at a picture and speak. Represented by Google's mainstream multimodal models, this path forcibly binds images and text. The model learns that eaves equal eaves, brackets equal brackets, and cattle equal cattle. Its goal is interpretability, controllability, traceability, serving search. Self-driving cars, robots, OCR, human-computer interaction—safe, compliant, and deployable, but tightly constrained by the boundaries of language, making it hard to fully unleash extreme artistic creation. Path two: no dictionary, purely visual, image to image. CIDAR, Sora, Stable Diffusion all belong to this category. They don't rely on text descriptions, have no vocabulary, don't care what something is—they do only one thing: cut the image into the smallest visual units, learn spatial rules, then reassemble them into new images. In simple terms, give them a reference image, and the AI dreams in the visual world, outputting more splendid images. This is why it can produce cinematic details—the entire process operates in high-dimensional vision, without the compression and loss of low-dimensional text. Second, the more stunning the effect, the less it comes from a script. Many mistakenly believe such detailed images must rely on super complex scripts, thousands of prompt words, and fine-grained descriptions—completely wrong. Text is low-dimensional information, images are high-dimensional. Ordinary people can't even accurately describe the flying eaves, beams, pillars, and window lattices of Chinese architecture, let alone materials, lighting, textures, and structural layers. Using text to drive cinematic creation is like trying to drain the ocean with a straw—it simply cannot carry the load. What makes C-Station truly powerful is that it directly consumes reference images, visual materials, and real scenes—not relying on language imagination, but on visual reproduction and recombination. The finer the image, the more it depends on source materials, not text creation. Third, why did Sora go viral worldwide but then suddenly go silent? Two years ago, OpenAI's Sora was released and instantly exploded globally. But afterward, it fell almost silent, with no more high-profile promotion. It's not that the technology isn't good—it's that business doesn't dare to use it, and the industry doesn't dare to touch it. The essence of this kind of pure visual AI is to learn from massive existing images and probabilistically recompose them. It doesn't have human-like imagination; it's more like extreme visual collage and style transformation. This brings a fatal problem: copyright is unclear, sources are untraceable. Hollywood directors dare not use it—once released, they could be accused of plagiarizing some movie scene. Advertisers dare not use it—they might accidentally collide with compositions, styles, or elements, leading to endless disputes. Big companies dare not promote it—it's untraceable, uninterpretable, and uncontrollable. The risk is completely uncontrollable. The more the effect resembles a movie, the harder it is for commercial deployment. It's not that it can't be done—it's that it can't be done casually. Fourth, given Google's strength, why doesn't it create stunning effects? A very counterintuitive truth: Google isn't incapable—it doesn't want to, and it dares not. The pure visual, no-dictionary, patch-based dream-like generation you can think of—Google internally had mature research on this at least five or six years ago, even earlier and more fundamental than external products. But Google's choice is very realistic: not to pursue fantasy-style creation, but to develop safe, controllable, commercially viable, and regulation-compliant technology. Search, cloud services, robots, self-driving—every one of them is more essential, stable, and risk-free than AI movies. Being able to create stunning effects is capability; choosing not to is business and compliance rationality. Fifth, a reality check for everyone—don't mythologize, don't belittle. Back to C-Station. Its engineering deployment and visual effect polishing are indeed commendable, representing the top level of pure visual generation. But we absolutely don't need to fall into blind self-congratulation.
