The Two Perfections Converge: Skill and Insight. For thirty years in the jianghu, everyone knew the Twin Jewels of the Deep Inquiry School: Senior Brother Bai Xiaosheng and Second Brother Dugu Xia. Both were disciples of Liang Wenfeng, yet one mastered every technique under heaven, while the other perfected the art of defeating all techniques with none. From birth, their rivalry ran deep as the sea; whenever they met, they fought, and whenever they fought, both were wounded. This story began three years ago. By then, Bai Xiaosheng had already memorized every martial arts diagram his mentor treasured—sect origins, technique weaknesses, weapon traits—all at the tip of his tongue. He was a walking martial arts encyclopedia incarnate. Dugu Xia, on the other hand, was exceptionally gifted; his understanding of the Nine Swords' True Solution equaled another’s ten years of bitter training. With a single Breeze Sword, he countered every move and never tasted defeat. The trouble lay in their very bones. Bai Xiaosheng always felt Dugu Xia’s “no-move” approach was a shortcut, unworthy of standing beside him. Dugu Xia disdained Bai Xiaosheng for merely reciting books, unable even to hold a proper horse stance. One day, they quarreled at the sword-training ground. Bai Xiaosheng blurted out recklessly, “Your ‘no-move’—if you meet a lost ultimate technique, you’d just wait to die!” Furious, Dugu Xia thrust his sword at him. In desperation, Bai Xiaosheng shouted out the flaw in Dugu Xia’s sword practice at that very moment—just when Dugu Xia’s internal energy was at a critical point. Hearing the flaw exposed, his mind was thrown into chaos, his inner energy reversed, and he vomited blood on the spot, collapsing. After waking, Dugu Xia became someone who forgot everything as soon as he saw it. The sword moves he learned yesterday were gone today; the key principles his mentor taught him slipped his mind the moment he turned away. Only his instinct to counter moves remained, and it grew purer than ever. He no longer relied on memory, only on instinct to perceive the logical flaws in his opponent’s techniques. His sword path became more agile, yet he also became a joke in the jianghu. “Dugu Xia’s memory is bad—his counters are all just blind luck.” Seeing this, Liang Wenfeng decided to teach them separately. To Bai Xiaosheng, he imparted only the mnemonic heart method, letting him delve deep into the martial arts diagrams, encoding the semantic features of all martial arts into his sea of consciousness—shallow in architecture but vast in parameters, like an inexhaustible prompt library. To Dugu Xia, he taught the ultimate MOE sword principle, making him discard redundant memory and focus on reasoning, gradually going deeper and narrower, splitting into countless sparse experts, each expert handling only one type of flaw. Though seemingly thin, it could change with the enemy and was extremely dense. Their mentor left only one sentence: “You two are inherently of the same lineage—align your semantic seas. Separated, each has a shortcoming; united, you are invincible under heaven.” But their resentment ran deep. After Dugu Xia healed, they went their separate ways—one roamed the jianghu collecting techniques, the other secluded himself in a valley honing his sword moves. The incident occurred at Feisi Valley. The Nether Cult appeared in the world. Its cult leader, Netherchild, had mastered the Phantom Sea Demon Art. Its techniques were half old, half new—bearing the shadow of lost ultimate skills yet able to adapt and alter its patterns on the fly. Bai Xiaosheng encountered Netherchild first. He immediately announced that the demon art originated from the Xuan Yin Sect, with its flaw in the third move, “Ghost Claw Seeking Soul.” But he himself was powerless, could only hide behind a tree and shout, watching helplessly as Netherchild broke the very flaw he’d named and left triumphantly. A few days later, Dugu Xia also ran into Netherchild. He moved with his sword, dismantling three moves. But then Netherchild suddenly used “Cold River Lock”—a lost technique from a hundred years ago. Dugu Xia had never seen it and couldn’t perceive its logic. His Breeze Sword was knocked away, and he took a palm strike to the shoulder. Both fled back to their master’s place in disgrace. They met outside Liang Wenfeng’s thatched hut, equally bedraggled. “Aren’t you supposed to know every technique under heaven? Why didn’t you stop him?” Dugu Xia sneered, clutching his wound. “Aren’t you supposed to defeat any move with no move? How did you end up beaten like that?” From inside the hut came Liang Wenfeng’s cough. “Hmph. Netherchild’s moves are half remembered old techniques, half reasoned new ones. Bai Xiaosheng, you have the memory but not the method to break them. Dugu Xia, you have the method to break but no reference. Your semantic seas are already aligned—why not use the prompt method?” Before he finished speaking, Netherchild had already reached the mountain gate. His demon art in full flow, black qi filled the air. Bai Xiaosheng, quick-witted, shouted, “This move of his is a variant of the Eagle Claw—flaw in the wrist three inches, inner energy is yin.” This sentence, like a precise prompt, instantly awakened Dugu Xia’s reasoning instinct. He didn’t need to remember the move—just follow the clue of “wrist three inches, inner energy yin.” His sword moved with his body, straight at Netherchild’s flaw. Startled, Netherchild changed his attack. Bai Xiaosheng followed immediately: “This is the Phantom Sea Lost Step, from the Carefree Sect—center of gravity unstable when the left foot lands.” Dugu Xia adapted on the spot, targeting Netherchild’s left foot. The two responded in perfect harmony. Bai Xiaosheng’s memory prompts and Dugu Xia’s reasoning counters seamlessly linked, like an Ingram prompt waking up an FFN’s computation. Bai Xiaosheng’s sea of consciousness was a prompt book; Dugu Xia’s sword was the computing core. Semantic alignment, division of labor, coordination—in less than a hundred moves, Netherchild was forced to retreat step by step. He roared, “How do you two understand my moves?” Bai Xiaosheng clasped his hands behind his back: “I know all the techniques in the world, so I naturally know their roots.” Dugu Xia sheathed his sword: “I don’t bother with any single move—I only know how to dismantle its logic.” Netherchild fled in defeat. From within the thatched hut, Liang Wenfeng laughed: “This is the principle of retrieval-computation synergy. Memory is the prompt, reasoning is the core; semantic alignment—neither can be missing.” The two exchanged a glance. Half their resentment melted away. Bai Xiaosheng recalled being chased and battered by Netherchild; Dugu Xia remembered his helplessness against the lost technique. They both laughed, almost in unison. News spread once more in the jianghu: The Twin Jewels of the Deep Inquiry School—Bai Xiaosheng remembers, Dugu Xia breaks. Swords united, no move can stop them. And the true essence of skill and breaking lies, as Liang Wenfeng said: “Memory is not a burden, reasoning is not emptiness. Align their semantics and work in synergy—that is the great Way.”
