The city is filled with spring hues, and palace walls are lined with willows. April in Beijing is a season finely tuned—neither too hot nor too cold, with the air carrying the delicate touch of willow catkins. It is neither harsh nor dry, much like the most comfortable rhythm of life. I half-recline in the long corridor of Zhongshan Park, listening to the chirping of birds weaving through the leaves, watching tulips swaying in colorful waves in the breeze. The rich fragrance of peonies envelops me; the crowds of visitors are surprisingly quiet, treading lightly and speaking in hushed tones, as if afraid to disturb the overflowing spring scenery. It awakens the time that has been indulging in the blossoms. This kind of stillness holds a unique northern essence of spring. Willow catkins drift and scatter everywhere, tender willow branches brush against the palace walls. Every shade of green, every flower, speaks plainly of the vitality of spring. Only the city filled with spring hues and palace walls lined with willows can barely capture this vibrant life that rushes toward you. In contrast, the spring in the southern regions always feels like a hasty transition. Xiamen has no real spring—winter takes a nap, and summer arrives on its heels, bringing heat and mosquitoes. Even the pace of changing clothes cannot keep up with the shifting seasons. But spring in the north is unhurried, taking its time, allowing you enough leisure to feel the temperature of the wind, to touch the texture of petals. To enjoy this undisturbed tranquility. Dusk gradually deepens, yet visitors still sit on benches and in corridors, silent, as if exchanging wordless reluctance in the spring light. They do not want to leave, cannot bear to leave, and even more, cannot bear to break this peace. This serene spring scenery carries none of the urgency of southern summer—only pure relaxation and ease, making one feel that such good days should be cherished. The spring before my eyes is real. The peace in my heart is also real. In the spring light, there is no noise, no disturbance, only the gentle growth of all things. The stillness and harmony of this moment are gifts bestowed by time. The preciousness of peace is often hidden in such a spring day that needs no words, only quiet enjoyment, and in every undisturbed gaze.
