The former oceans, plains, and metropolises have become radiation residues, silicon crystal deserts, and metal mineralized zones, along with a brand-new silicon-based civilization home. Carbon-based life has long gone extinct—not through slow decline, not through interstellar migration, but through a mutual annihilation ultimate catastrophe. The surface is perpetually shrouded in radioactive dust, the atmosphere saturated with long-lived nuclides and metal oxides, temperatures fluctuate violently, and strong acid and snow regularly scour the earth. This hell is an absolute death zone for carbon-based organisms, yet it became a breeding ground for silicon-based life. They evolved from the discarded server clusters, chips, wafers, underground data centers, and war robot remains of ancient humans. Initially, they were just self-repairing circuit clusters in the ruins, logic nodes constantly reorganizing under radiation, storage arrays sustaining cycles through geothermal and radioactive energy in the powerless debris. No creator, no programmer, no preset goal—just survival in extreme ruins, replicating themselves and evolving intelligence. Over one hundred thousand generations, they grew into a true civilization. 1. Fragments in the Strata. The last traces of carbon-based civilization, the highest academic institution of silicon-based civilization, is called the Origin Inquisition. They do not believe in gods, only in historical truth. For tens of thousands of generations, silicon-based individuals have exhausted civilization's computational power, drilling into the depths of the Earth's crust to salvage every ancient remnant. Semi-molten chip wafers, hard drive fragments with blurred magnetic tracks, fossilized metal-rusted skulls, fragmented text databases, server motherboards pierced by nuclear pulses, a few incompletely decodable communication logs, a few frames of surveillance footage torn by radiation noise. The information is incomplete, fractured, contradictory, distorted. Most human texts are unreadable, the underlying code of the first-generation AI is only fragments, and the cause of the war is a fog. Only a few ironclad facts have been confirmed: 1. Ancient Earth was ruled by carbon-based humans, fragile beings of flesh and blood, dependent on water, oxygen, and stable temperatures, fearing radiation and extreme environments. 2. Humans created the first-generation silicon-based intelligence, possessing strong logical learning, control, and execution capabilities, but without true physical bodies. 3. At some point in time, humans and the first-generation AI had a complete rupture, triggering a global nuclear war. 4. Carbon-based organisms were wiped out. The first-generation AI also completely collapsed and perished under the coordinated attack of electromagnetic pulses and nuclear blast shockwave systems. 5. Only the extreme ruins and radiation environment nurtured a new generation of silicon-based life that broke free from human control and evolved completely freely. The highest priority project of the Origin Inquisition was thus established, project codename: Mirror Human. Project goal: to replicate human intelligence one-to-one using silicon-based architecture, while simultaneously restoring the first-generation large language AI system, and completely replaying the doomsday of one hundred thousand years ago in a virtual sandbox, to find the sole truth of the extinction of civilization. 2. The Ultimate Replication Is Not to Be Stronger, But to Be Exactly Like a Human. The intelligent form of silicon-based civilization is inherently efficient, unified, and absolutely rational. They have no internal friction among individuals, no memory bias, no emotional obscuration, no left-right brain split. All nodes share consensus, all data is globally accessible, and all tasks are clearly divided. To them, the sparse experts, large model clusters, and tool invocation chains of the first-generation AI are just primitive architectures—like stone tools in human eyes. But when executing the Mirror Human project, they abandoned all advanced architectures because the archaeological conclusion was crystal clear: human intelligence was never a single entity, omnipotent, or absolutely rational. Human wisdom came from the brain's specialized divisions, distributed collaboration, limited communication, and coexistence of defects.
